Exclusive to Pitchfork, Broken Talk is a brand new song from Gang of Four, written and recorded by Andy Gill in his London studio and in China, and is the first track available from a new, as yet untitled, Gang of Four EP which will be released in the Spring, and a new studio album. The new album sees Andy working with several singers and musicians, both new and established, and follows widespread critical acclaim for Gang of Four’s last album release, 2011′s Content.
Broken Talk features haunting lead vocals by John “Gaoler” , who has been working with Gang of Four for over a year now, both on stage and in the studio. It is enhanced and underpinned by the spare, hard-edged, driving beat of long-time Gang of Four members Mark Heaney, on drums, and Thomas McNeice, on bass.
Broken Talk and other new material gets its live debut during Gang of Four’s forthcoming tour to China and Japan; dates below. Further dates will be announced soon. A Chinese language version of Broken Talk has also been recorded featuring on vocals Lu Di from AV Okubo and Hua Dong from Rebuilding the Rights of Statues.
